  1. A water sport developed in England 1869,
  2. originally called `soccer-in-water'. The aim
  3. is to score goals, as in soccer, at each end
  4. of a swimming pool. It is played by teams of
  5. seven-a-side (from squads of 13) An inflated
  6. ball is passed among the players, who must
  7. swim around the pool without touching the
  8. bottom. A goal is scored when the ball is
  9. thrown past the goalkeeper and into a net.
  10. The Swimming Association of Great Britain
  11. recognized the game 1885. World championships
  12. were first held 1973; they are held during
  13. the world swimming championships.
